First you will need to contact the State or local BAR association and ask them to recommend a good lawyer that will either work for free (pro bono) or at reduced rate. Explore you options with your lawyer including cutting your ex completely out of your lives. But what you have said, he doesn't sound like the most stable person to be raising 2 kids. If your oldest daughter wants to change her last name, go to the court house and fill out the forms in order for her to change it. There is a cost involved, but its not a hard process.
