I will always supporting a Christian who sins & acknowledges those sins, but has family values and faith in God and God is important in his life, as opposed to someone who doesn’t have a place for God in their lives, who sins, but doesn’t even recognize those sins, and only cares about pleasing the people. It’s not even a contest.

And then there is power, pure power as well as greed. And that is what it and the George W Bush administration and his right wing lackeys are all about. Their using right wing religions to gay bash to get out the conservative vote parallels in many ways what hitler did in Germany to gain power, and the holocaust and WWII were the result. And, btw, Bush’s grandfather Senator Prescott Bush was director of a NY bank that was a major source of funding for the buildup of the nazi war machine in the 1930s. The bank was fined a princely sum.

And then there is the closet. So many people who are somewhat gay, and religious, are naturally attracted to the right wing of the republican party. By bashing gays, they satisfy their twin urges of supporting their closet status, and reflecting out their own religious self hatreds on external victims. Craig, Foley, Minister Haggard ("want gay sex, dial 1800- HAG-GARD – btw I just called that number, and they really are some sort of phone sex etc operation, no s#!+.

It sure would be nice if the Log Cabin Republicans became a group using a log to bash the gay closet republicans, out them to the general populace. That, & ending DADT so suddenly a whole other multi-million segment of society discovers their friends, fellow soldiers, people on whom they depend for their lives mutually, are gay. Another barrier knocked over. I do see this happening amongst college students, I work part time now retail in MD just to keep busy, most all the others are high school or college students, most have gay friends and they are not homophobic.
Victory for gay people is coming. Most of Western Europe has either gay marriage, federal – nationwide recognized civil unions almost identical to civil marriage, or domestic partnerships (sri no details). Add in Israel, Republic of South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico’s Cohuila State, Mexico City (like our DC- a semi-state0, Buenos Aires also. It almost happened in Columbia, SAmer. also. It is also expected in Ireland this year.

And please, if you are in the closet, realize what the closet is about. As segregation and Jim Crow were used to trap Black Americans- instantly recognizable people – into poverty and 3rd class citizenship, the closet is the same for gays. Generally you aren’t readily recognizable so the closet is a form of terrorization of gays, to keep you from being visible, and agitating for equality under the law.

Go out, get involved in politics. It may take several years, but you can help make a difference!

Denying gay couples equal rights, for one, is anti-family.
