Does anyone else think the bible is the scariest book in the world?
I mean I think its scary because you can reword or interpret the bible in almost any way possible. I have seen gay people interpret the bible in saying that god promotes gay marriage and I have seen the gay haters do the same. I have seen racists do it, governments do it. And people will follow it just because you can prove that it came from the bible. People have started wars and people are murdered, people get rich, people get saved. A lot of good can come from it but I believe a lot of evil can also come from it also. I mean is anyone else deathly afraid of this book?

It is scary, especially when it threatens eternal suffering in Hell if you don’t conform to it’s high standards. There are people who believe in this book, and they will do the craziest things in the name of God (like the Holocaust, the Spanish Inquisition, the massacre of indigenous peoples that didn’t believe).

What you bring up is a good point. The Bible is a very old book, and it has been translated and edited by humans many, many times. Humans can make mistakes. Each translator and editor took the word of God to mean something different. Therefore, we have no idea how much has been changed, what is right.
That’s not even considering interpretation. Still, after thousands of years, we can interpret the Bible to mean different things. Each reader has to take it upon themselves to know what they believe the Bible is saying.
So, we have to interpret this possibly muddled version of God’s word in our own way. This is why Christians disagree on certain areas, because so many things can be changed. The word of God is a powerful tool, in it is what we hope is the solid truth, untouched by wrong interpretations. It’s scary what people can do to and with it, but it’s all we’ve got to go by.
It was written by man not god what do you expect? Man puts their own twist on anything they touch no matter when in time is was done. God created earth in 7 days. who is to say that 7 days was not 7 thousand years our time? think about it. Christian say man was not created from the ape who is to say that the ape that man evolved from is extinct. Just because we still have apes does not mean we did not descend from them. You reap what you sow. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I am not a bible thumper but just think about it. I am afraid of how people interpret the book. They are stories written from events that happened. Just like the stories that are carried down from the American Indians and others
