He will realize what you've already realized, that you two need each other. And then all will be well. But if he thinks that it's best to stay apart, perhaps the relationship isn't that "special one" that we all have out there. Relationships aren't easy, and they are full of ups and downs. But those downs are what make the relationship strong. So don't look at this as a life crisis. Think of it as a test on your relationship. And if you're sure that you two will pass, then try to now worry about it so much. Let time take its toll and just show him that you genuinely want him back. And if it's meant to be, he will come.
