As far as names go, if she is not trying to "disappear" the child, and make it so your husband can't see him, they may be just trying to form a unified family situation, school districts have a most difficult time if the names are not all the same. My husband and daughter have one last name, I kept mine, and you would not *believe* how difficult this is in many situations, amazingly enough. How old is the child? Is he old enough to understand the issues and give you any information without stirring up the hornet's nest by asking the adults?
