vegetarian at a young age now trying to get pregnant?
I started my vegetarian lifestyle when i was in 8th grade. I am scared that that has affected me now. I am trying to get pregnant and I have not been able to. I think it is because of this lifestyle choice. I dont know what i could do?

I have read that on a good healthy vegetarian diet you are still able to become pregnant. The emphasis is on healthy. Have you tried tracking your food or going to a nutritionist? It could be the guy’s fault too. You really need to see a doctor if you’re worried. Have you researched about your diet any? Do you have healthy periods? Some anorexic girls have severely starved themselves into becoming sterile. I think someone would have noticed and had gotten you help if your diet had gone this far so I highly doubt that this is your problem. You should really see your doctor though.

I know what you can do — talk to your doctor. Vegetarianism has nothing to do with fertility. Get a complete checkup and have a heart-to-heart talk with your physician for the best results.
I’ve been a vegetarian for 9 years. I’ve had two children within the past 3 years. They were healthy and with no problems. Being a vegetarian will not impact your chances of becoming pregnant.
You should definitely see a doctor and talk to them about your plans. Your vegetarian diet should not play any role on whether you are able to conceive or not.
You’re right, vegetarianism causes infertility. Start eating meat so that you’ll be fertile and strong enough to bring new life into the world
Vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores all have equal chances of conceiving or having trouble conceiving. As long as your eating healthy a.k.a. getting enough protein whether it’s from meat, or nuts, or beans, and getting enough vegetables etc… then you should be fine. If your truly concerned about not getting pregnant then go to your doctor.
Boy, if that had even an ounce of truth, India would not have population problems since India is the largest nation of vegetarians
) Anyways, there is no truth in that. In fact, too many people out there agree that vegetarian diet is the healthiest provided you include enough fruits, vegetables, milk/cheese, beans/lentils/legumes and nuts giving you an all rounded perfect balance of protien, calcium, iron and carbs etc. All my ancestors are vegetarian and my great grand-mom had 8 children. Get yourself and your partner checked. Secondly, even the healthiest people could take up to a year to concieve. So don’t lose hopes too soon.
The most difficult problem that faced by vegetarian that want to get pregnant is to get enough amino acids. The human needs anywhere from 8-12 essential amino acids, which can be easily found in most meat sources. Plant sources are more difficult to get by, but with enough consultation with a dietician, a workaround might just be formulated for a vegetarian.
