Can husband’s ex take my home for back alimony?
I bought my home a year before my husband and I married. The mortgage and deed are in my name alone. He has been laid off for a year now and hasn’t had the money to go back to his home state to get alimony modified. His ex is threatening to take my home because she says my husband has "dowry rights". Has anyone ever heard of this or is she just bluffing?

If the home is your name and not his, then she cannot take it. You may want to get an attorney. Also, he may want to petition the courts since he lost his job for lower alimony.
Only if the house is in his name..yes they can!
actually, my good friend had her vehicle and her home taken because her husband didnt pay alimony and child support. his name was not on a thing…hers only. yes, i have heard of it happening, this is in north carolina too.
your husband’s ex is just blowing smoke up his butt. AND, if this was the case her attorney would be contacting him not her. She is trying to manipulate him into doing whatever it takes to get her money. The greedy witch.
Don’t worry about a thing, She can not come after anything of yours and the court sure as hell is NOT going to make him sale his homestead yours or his to satisfy a debt. Especially alimony.
slap her (cat fight)
I think she is bluffing the home is in your name only how could she get her hands on it. it’s to bad that he can’t pay her since he owes her the alimony she probably needs it just to live but i would call a lawyer and find out for sure if i where you
She is nuts: Send her a ‘dowry’ chest for christmas filled with crap!
