Who is the man with the brown beard on the back cover of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone?
I have an older version of the book that has a man with a brown beard instead of Dumbledore on the back cover. I think it was bought in the year 2000.
I dont think it’s Hagrid because the man is holding a pipe, he’s holding a book and he’s skinny.

If you mean the thin man with the pipe…
There are two widely held opinions.
1. The illustrator actually read the description wrong and made this one up. It is dumbledore. he didn’t read it and gave an artist’s impression Seriously, J.K then went and made him do it again but it was already out in publishing.
2. The other option is that this is actually Quirrell.
It is not Hagrid. There is another cover of him and he is shown as a big giant
Hagrid. He is a Half-giant
Its Hagrid… Who else????
i thought it was Nicholas Flamel…since he’s the philosopher in who made the stone. =]
That is hagrid. He is half-giant as we learn in the 4th book
