What are some ways to make your singing voice come back quickly after an illness?
I have my first concert in less than two weeks and I am recovering from a sinus infection which has left my throat and my lungs in terrible condition. I am going back to the doctor tomorrow to make sure nothing else has come of my illness, but in the meantime, I need to do everything possible to make sure my voice will be in tip-top shape in no time. If you have any ideas, please help. Thanks!

Ok the first thing you need to do is let your voice rest. try to limit talking to a minimum and slowly start to practice. If you start to quickly it could hurt your voice and you might have to wait longer. Whenever my throat is sore and just before i sing in choir concerts in general, i drink tea with honey in it. I know it sounds weird but it actually soothes your throat and relaxes your vocal chords so the’re not strained. Don’t put sugar in it though, that will somewhat ruin the effect.
Hope I could help!
i say let your voice rest for a while and then practice practice practice i’ve had a problem like that i say let it rest for like a week or less than that just as soon as u start feeling a little better and then practice all you can
Hot tea and lemon or you can place your face over steam like a vaporizer or something.
Try humming for two minutes, start with low tunes make them up. Then stop for two minutes then hum for two minutes more, try humming for about a week and get yourself reacquainted with all the sounds you would make if you were singing. Oh and drink lots of water a dry mouth is not a good idea to sing with. After the two weeks begin to sing small tunes low ones at first try not to stress your voice other wise you could screw up you ability seriously. After trying to sing drink some water and then go back to humming then after a couple of minutes drink some water and start singing again. Repeat this for about ten minutes take it easy. If your voice keeps cracking it means you’re pushing it too much and you haven’t given your vocal chords enough rest, relax, take a break then go back to humming. That’s all the advice I can give you it worked for me. Good Luck.
rest and no talking
dont talk. at all. for 24 hours.
dont cough hard, dont clear your throat hard. no yelling!
dont whisper, it does way more harm than good.
Rest your voice! Don’t even speak!! When you can speak clearly, then you can start gradually training. I went thru this a few weeks ago, and there is no way out but rest. Good luck. I think you will be fine!!
