Im pregnant and wont have a job to come back to because it’s a small business. Can I get unemployment?
I’m a bartender and won’t be able to return to my job, because we’re a small business with only 3 people working, and it wouldn’t be possible for me to leave for 6 weeks and expect to have a job to return to. Am I able to collect unemployment because of this situation? I’ve saved up enough for the period I’m gone, I’m just nervous I won’t be able to find something right away and would like to know my assistance options.

If they lay you off, yes. If you quit or they fire you, nope. Do remember though that when you do go back to work (or get a new job) your employer is legally required to give you the breaks and an adequate place to pump breastmilk.
What you can do is apply for WIC, Food Stamps, and TANF depending on if you have any other household income.
You’ll also qualify for Medicaid for the first 6 weeks and the baby will have Medicaid until it’s 18 or you cross the income line into qualifying for low cost insurance: http://www.insurekidsnow.gov/
Actually yeah you can if you quit for a good reason.I worked for a small business and quit because they wouldn\’t give me my pay and they were already late paying it too but I was qualified to get it.They sent a letter stating that I qualified because I left with good cause.
I would definitely check it out. Did you sign a contract when you started. You should have a look through that. They may even have to pay you during your time off. Don’t give up just yet because you should be able to qualify for some type of payment or assistance. All the best
