Question about Disney World’s extra magic hours and recommendations on dinner reservations?
I was wondering what the extra magic hours are at Disney World for August 7th-9th? My computer isn’t allowing them to pop up.
Also, I was wondering what is a good place to make reservations on the Disney grounds?
I’ve already been to the Crystal Palace, the little italian place at Magic Kingdom that goes with the Lady and the Tramp theme, and the Hoopdy Doo Review dinner show, also some place with spinning tables (I forget what it was called, but Chip and Dale were there).
One of the ppl going has never been to Disney before so I’d like it to be a memorable experience.
Also, no small children are with us. Just teenagers ranging from 18-21.
Thanks!!

Hi…I just looked them up and here is the schedule for the following dates:
August 7:
Morning Magic Hours: Hollywood Studios 8am-9am
Evening Magic Hours: Magic Kingdom 10pm-1am
August 8:
Morning Magic Hours: Animal Kingdom 8am-9am
No Evening Magic Hours are scheduled for this day
August 9:
Morning Magic Hours: EPCOT 8am-9am
Evening Magic Hours: Magic Kingdom 10am-1am
…If you go to Animal Kingdom for the morning magic hours, I’d recommend you go directly to Kilimanjaro Safari ride…the animals are at their best in the early a.m. …Also click this link http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/calendar/extramagichours/ so you can find out exactly which attractions are open during magic hour operation (since not everything is open during those hours).
As far as the restaurants, my absolute favorites, hands down are in EPCOT’s World Showcase…Le Cellier (Canada), Les Chefs de France (France), and Tokyo Dining (Japan) are my top 3 picks. If you go to either Tokyo Dining or Chefs de France in the evening, ask for a window seat in front of the lagoon so you can watch Illuminations Fireworks show during dinner. Be sure to make reservations really soon (407) WDW-DINE as they book up FAST. Here’s another link http://www.allears.net/din/dining.htm so you can check out the menus at all the Disney restaurants and also look at the photos and reviews of each restaurant to see which suits you best.
…Also, Disney puts on their Summer Night Concert series in the American Pavilion Theatre in EPCOT’s World Showcase…A Tribute to Tom Petty will be playing during your stay in August.
Update: Hey, I just remembered… Go onto Disney’s website http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ and click the link in the bottom right corner that says "free customized maps" …they make a beautiful keepsake and a first souvenir before you even step foot onto Disney property!
…AND…I just noticed that one of the people in your party is a first-timer…therefore, I’d recommend either Ohana (Polynesian Resort), 50′s Primetime Cafe (Hollywood Studios), or Whispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge)…all three restaurants have their own unique flair…BUT…the quality of taste will never match up to the World Showcase restaurants…just my $.02.
If they still have Farmers’ Buffet be sure and not go there. Their food is HORRIBLE!
Not sure about the extra magic hours, but my favorite restaurants are California Grill atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort (buffet but awesome food), Teppan Dining at Japan Pavilion at Epcot would be cool for the teens. Also Whispering Canyon Restaurant at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge resort is a lot of fun for everyone.
i suggest looking up ohana’s which is at the polynesian resort. it is my favorite restaurant at disney (and i’m 16, so kinda close to your ages). my family makes sure not to miss it every time we go.
Here’s the best places we ate while at Disney: #1) Boma’s at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (reservations required. They open at 4:30. Res an early dinner!) #2) The House of Blues at Disney Downtown. Best food we had at Disney. If you’re there over a Sunday, Blues has a gospel brunch between 10:30 am and 1pm you should definitely go to.
#3) If you like a more middle-eastern type food: You want to go to the Marakesh in Epcot, which requires res. or the Tangeirine’s Cafe, which does not. (we enjoyed the Tangierine’s.)
Sometimes the Disney website is a little screwy, if you go to intercot.com they always have the extra magic hours posted on there. However, keep in mind those hours can change up to the very day it’s supposed to happen so always check back to make sure.
You can make dining reservations by calling 407-W-Disney. A good place for lunch in Magic Kingdom would be the Plaza Restaurant on Main St. It’s a small, quaint place so it’s good for older guests and it’s also fairly reasonable price wise. A good place in Epcot for lunch or dinner is Le Cellier, this place is more expensive and very popular but everyone loves it there, they have great food and it’s also a grown up atmosphere. That restaurant is located in their World Showcase section of Epcot. For Animal Kingdom they have a new restaurant called Yak and Yeti. For Hollywood Studios, go to the 50′s Prime Time Diner and The Sci-Fi Drive in, they have the best atmospheres.
If you want menu’s for any of those restaurants you can go to allears.net and they will have a full list.
Enjoy!
