Are there any other young (under 30) Republicans like me posting here?
Or is it mostly the Rush Limbaugh lookalikes here? You know, the old, fat, bald guys who lack any and all understanding of the minds of younger people who will create the future well after most of these old people are dead.
I consider myself a fiscal conservative…not a social conservative. Like most of my YOUNG friends gay marriage is not a threat to traditional marriage considering traditional heterosexual marriage is now "married and divorced to 3 different women/men in 60 years time".
The old guys, regardless of political affiliation, have been making a mockery of "traditional" marriage for 100 years…so please give it up. Gay marriage cannot harm "traditional" marriage as it has been so severly damaged beyond repair by a Britney Spears 24 hour marriage/divorce.
Yes…I understand the religious side of the issue…but religion is regulated, by the US Constitution, to belong in the HOME and in the CHURCH….it has no place in governing people in the public domain. The last thing politicians need to be spending the PEOPLE’s time on is fighting for a 10 commandments plaque to remain on public property…some of the PEOPLE you supposedly represent have different views on religion.
Young Republicans know this….why don’t you golden oldies?
I grew up with black friends, mexican friends, even had a muslim friend help tutor me in college for a year…for free!…I guess when you do not grow up during a time where white conservatives hung black people for looking at white women it makes it a lot easier to see minorities as humans who are equal under the laws of this land….not as slaves or savages to be treated as less than human.
So you are losing me with the whole race issue…and clearly the old goats of the GOP are racist.
About the only social issue you still got me on is the abortion issue…but not in the case of rape or if the mother’s life is in danger.
So how about it…could you guys like back off a little with the social issues, maybe even try a little forward thinking/future planning and try to save some shred of the Republican Party for the up and comers?
Or you all just going to stick with the 1950′s mentality and allow young Conservatives to build up and expand the Libertarian Party or one of the other 3rd parties popping up while the Republican Party slowly dies along with it’s aging members?

You obviously don’t get it sonny. You are a Rep/Dem hybrid to some degree and do not understand what it means to be a true Republican. Sacrificing one’s values is not "forward thinking." Based upon your description above, it is apparent that you do not have the slightest idea what we older and much wiser Republicans believe. You are another arrogant and uninformed young kid who thinks we have to compromise our values to dilute the party line to appeal to the uninformed and misguided young know-it-alls whose knowledge could not fill a thimble.
Regarding a few of the issues to which you refer above, you just don’t know what you are talking about.

I’m 21, was a Republican and am now a Libertarian. Look into Ron Paul a bit and you may just fall in love.

If you’re a typical young republican, then go to the independents. Ron Paul and his supporters will love you. You best look at what’s happening to this country with the ‘new young republicans’ and the very socialist democrats. I’m not crazy about Rush, either, but he does make a lot of true common sense.

This kind of position could make the two party system live again. I’m one of the old Democrats but you look like someone I could talk with. The shrill attacks of the Limbaugh crowd, the ‘gotcha’ crap, the unsubstantiated rumors make dialogue impossible. The same can be said from the left, as well. I’m Independant but I always vote Democrat. I have pretty much the same beliefs as you…except i’m a little different on abortion. Maybe you should consider the other side.

Marriages were derived out of the need for a family structure, politics, or community. The whole man/woman thing seemed to produce new little citizens. You may have been asleep during biology or perhaps you were a home ec kind of guy. Love wasn’t a critical measure. Heck the house of Windsor who are the British royal family are actually German. But I am sure that in your world, a relationship based around a chunk of latex or butt love is meaningful. But as many times as the latex is abused or a rectum is mauled, no life has ever been created. And for the last 45 years the children of America have suffered by the acceptance of the liberal hate agenda.
Try reading a little more, Churches are not regulated by the Constitution, the state is regulated. Another liberal misconception. You seem to have alot of liberal tendencies. But you are a Republican, right….. You grew up with Black friends, wow. Everyone, we are in the presense of greatness, Steven has black friends. He is a superior person. I guess the rest of us who have black friends for over 25 years just don’t count. Steven has a tutor who isn’t white. I guess he has me there, I didn’t need a tutor. And FWIW, a REAL friend would never dream of CHARGING a friend for helping out. I guess in your sensitive world, friend has a different meaning.
