Props don’t make the magician or the trick. The trick is made great by the skills of the magician. A simple deck of cards, a paper bag and some marbles and I can perform miracles. I’ve seen others botch it with $20,000 dollars pieces of apparatus.
The local and school libraries can be valuable sources for books on magic and conjuring, most of which is accomplished with easily available props (e.g. cards, handkerchiefs, rope, string, coins, etc.). It is the work that goes into presenting these tricks in an entertaining manner that makes them great or just so so.
Also, magicians are actors, playing the part of a magician. Get involved in the drama or acting club at school or take part in a community theater production. Learn about stage craft, acting, public speaking and the skills necessary to make a successful presentation.
Finally, it is better to know a few tricks very, very well than to know lots of tricks but have mastered none.

Go to your local library. There are books that show you how to do simple magic tricks with ordinary, everyday items such as coins, handkerchiefs, playing cards, and so on. I am curious, though: what’s a "courier in magic"?
