Me and my husband want another child, but will it be fair to him/her? He is 44, I am 30.?
He is in excellent health, but obviously an age of a grandfather. I love my husband, and we have a 4 yr. old who adores him, and I would love for him to have a sister or brother. What is your opinion in this? Is if fair to a child to be born to a 44 yr. old father, who will be 62 when they graduate?

Well, I think you should go for it. It doesn`t matter that your husband is 44, it`s not old! And I know a lot 60-year olds that are in better shape than 40-year olds, so him being 62 when your child graduates doesn`t have to be a problem.
People, men especially, are waiting until their 30′s and 40′s to have their first kids. I dont see a problem with it.
44 the age of a grandfather? Not yet.
I don’t see any problem with that. I have a 40 yo cousin with a 50 yo husband who have a 9 month old (thier 4th child). He was commenting that he will be retired by the time his son is going to high school…but does it matter that much? The main issue if any would be the "generation gap"… and I am sure that you will be able to work through that like you would any other issue.
I don’t know many 44 year old grandfathers. I know men in their 50′s who have 2 and 3 year old’s. 44 isn’t old to have another child. Why not if that’s want you guys want and are able to care for another child, and I’m sure your son would love a sibling. I would go for it and good luck.
Age doesn’t matter. If you two can still give that baby love while he grows up, then you can be a good parent. I would go for it. I watched a movie where the mother and father was in their sixties and already retired when they had a baby girl. They took great care of her. It’s all up to you.
Absolutly! As long as you and your husband are in agreeance on the pregnancy…go for it.
age does not matter when you will love your child. my husband is 48 and i am 36 and we have a 6 month old and i want another soon. i think we are better parents BECAUSE we are older. we are more patient, have more financial security and have already done the things we wanted to do together. i am a better parent than i would have been 10 or 12 years ago. best of luck
My dad was 57 when he was a grandfather for the first time. And that was to my older sister’s first child. Now he is 67 and I gave him a grandchild 10 months ago (My husband and I are 36 and this is our second child) . So I don’t think a 44 year old is the age of a grandfather. Is 44 a bit older, sure. But many people have children later in life. And as long as you make good financial plans for your children then I don’t see the problem. Especially since modern medicine and health advances are making 44 not seem or be as old as it once was.
i wasnt aware that many 44 year old men were grandfathers…lol!
my husbands parents are in their 70′s. he has a sister who is in her early twenties who was born when his mom was 44 and his dad was 46 i think. while its not something i would ever be ok with doing, its up to the individual person. if he wants another child, then go for it.
