Does the Magic Kingdom still do the opening ceremony?
There are numerous videos on YouTube of this ceremony; you’ll find them simply by searching for "Magic Kingdom opening ceremony". Only thing is, most of these videos are a year older or more.
I’m going to Disney World from February 10 to 17, 2009, and assuming they still do this ceremony, I want to make sure to see it one of the days I’m there. Preferably someone who knows a lot about the Magic Kingdom (up-to-date knowledge), goes there often, or even works there…can I expect to see it on any of the days between 2/10 and 2/17, or is it only certain days?
I know this question has been asking on Y!A before, but once again, it shows as being a year ago or more, and I want precise, up-to-date information.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me.
P.S. Don’t they also do a similar show on Main Street later in the morning, using "Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street U.S.A." and "The Trolley Song" as a medley? What time does that usually happen?

The show occurs every morning at 5 minutes prior to park opening except for EMH morning days (those days only have the countdown with music). Animal Kingdom also has an opening show and Hollywood Studios sometimes has a skit.
They don’t do the Main Street Trolley parade anymore. What will start mid-February (no exact date yet) is the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It Street Party that will happen 3x a day in addition to the new afternoon parade.
They still do an opening ceremony.
They still have the opening ceremony. There are also Extra Magic Hours in the mornings sometimes, so the opening ceremony is earlie on some mornings. When you get to WDW, you can check out the Extra Magic Hours schedules (which can be found on each park schedule) for the week you’re there. They won’t announce the times until that week.
I think the "Welcome Medley" is the song you’re talking about. It is used in the opening ceremony. I don’t think it’s in any more parades on Main Street–I think it was only during the Year of a Million Dreams. I’m not completely positive of it, but when I went this past holiday, they weren’t showing it.
Hope this helps!
They did a few months ago when I was there. Sometimes they may have a different CM to open the ceremony , such as the mayor or fire chief. The earlier you get there (like 2 hrs before the park opens) the more chance you have for your family to be picked to help open the park. From what I have been told by CM, this is done each morning. They do not pick a family on days when they have EMH in the morning and sometimes families are pre selected but I don’t know how that works.

All parks have an opening. Magic Kingdoms is where a the train comes in and has some charecters come in and some guests. Its really cool.
