Should i give up on trying to get my ex back?
Me and my ex were together for almost a year but we recently broke up after a we had a big argument, and because i was so angry at the time i ignored him which led to us going our separate ways. But we still talk and he tells me he loves and misses me i also get the odd kiss of him 
but when i asked him why we couldn’t be together he said that its for the best so we dont argue, but we broke up because of this before, so could it just be another break what he needs, or is it actually over this time?

Give it some time; one of my favorite quotes is, "Love is patient." If it’s meant to be, then it will happen. Just be patient and let him come to you… and when he does, just be honest. Tell him how you really feel, tell him that you’re sorry, and that he was right, and you want to make things right again.
first remember this saying "what’s meant to be will always find it’s way" and "everything happens for a reason" yeah it may take some time for you two to get back together but in the end if it’s what both of you want then it will work. if he says he misses and loves you then i wouldn’t give up just yet. good luck.
