do magic charms an spells work like antispyware an antivirusware?
wat i mean is when u try to use somthing to protect urself from 1 problem theres always some price to pay…. like when ppl put those free antispyware an antivirusware aps on there computers to protect them from adware an spyware… those aps end up puting there own spyware an adware on ur computer thats worse than the stuff there sposed to protect u from…
so i thot maybe when u use things like magic charms or spells… to protect u from somthing evil… theres always some karma u got to pay that will make things even worse for u in the long run??? like maybe some spirit comes into ur life an its sposed to protect u… but then this spirit is real anoying an u can never get rid of it…

Some people believe that karma (or something like it — the western notion of karma doesn’t really match the traditional Hindu religious version of it, where the idea was spawned) will get you "back" if you do a spell that is either harmful/manipulative toward another person, or sometimes if any spell is advantageous to the caster. However, not all people who practice magic believe this.
As I generally observe, very few people feel there will be negative consequences from performing a protection spell on one’s self. Most effective spellwork isn’t "free" per se — it usually demands a spiritual investment from the caster, of energy or even physical offerings.
The only spirit I can think of, off the top of my head, who might be at all dangerous to petition for help even just for protection could be Santa Muerte, if the petitioner were unfamiliar with how to treat her — she demands offerings, and if she goes unpaid she’ll take whatever she wants from you. Most people who get involved with Santa Muerte know to be careful around her though, and are quite devoted to her and so they do not fear trouble.
Just like antispyware and antivirusware, magic spells do not work either.
Sorry I can’t help with the antivirus analogy because apart from surfing I’m hopeless with computers!
However for charms I’m on surer ground.
Depending on what you put in your charm or spell it could work in many different ways. The thing to remember is magic works in a natural way, there is NOTHING supernatural about it and it will take the easiest ‘route’ to a target.
Say I did a protection on a property
Depending on how I worked you could get several different scenarios.
It could work by any harm that was directed at that property was ‘foiled’ in some way – eg someone wanted hurt the person who lived there and was creeping around the property, either something would disturb that person or the person would become very fearful for no apparent reason.
OR it could work that you would suddenly feel an urge to say put a light on, or open the back door and look out, disturbing the person intent on something harmful.
Or it could work that your neighbour or friend would suddenly happen to be passing and decide to call in, all of these things look like ‘coincidence’ but those who walk the magical path know there is no such thing
If not the ‘foiling’ version you may find that it works by other ‘coincidental’ occurances, so if we take the above example, the threat person may well have been plotting this for a while, in which case the spell might take the form that your neighbour or a passing police car would spot this person casing the place before the attempted entry. It won’t ensure – for instance – that this person is caught and punished, it would just put a series of barriers in the way of the person and the intended ‘attack’
ok, it depends upon the intent of the user. I agree with you on the anti spyware. Those are a gimmick. But magic charms or spells, don’t work unless you have the intent to back it up. usually you have to bless the charm, and prey to the god/goddess of your choice, blessing the charm.
the something evil: You need to get rid of it.
Karma will not kick you in the butt if you get rid of something evil.
Karma kicks you in the butt if you are evil to others.
If a spirit is posta protect you, it will not be annoying. It will try to giude you in the right direction.
If you do not want it there, simply ask it politely to leave, and it should leave.
that’s a great idea for sci-fi/fantasy novel novel.
No way…I mean, not unless you are summoning dark spirits to assist you or something. The only time you get negative karma back is when you try to control another person’s free will or try to harm yourself or someone else.
Magick is not good or evil, it is neutral. Your intention is what makes it positive or negative. If your intention is to protect yourself, that is positive. If you are fearful of the spell not working, most likely the only thing that will happen is that the spell wont work.
It sounds to me like you are not sure if magick itself is a good idea. If you feel that way, then don’t cast spells. From my point of view though (as a Witch) my spells and charms have most times brought me good results with no karmic backlash. The times that they didn’t, they simply didn’t work.
As long as you keep your intent positive, the outcome will be positive.
Also, keep in my mind that we have spirit guides and guardians that watch over us to make sure that we don’t innocently make a mistake that will harm us. It is only people that are really hard headed (or not taking things seriously) that get themselves into trouble with spell casting.
That is true that, if your using the spell on the dark side of course it’s not good. Cause eventually, it will be back on you, everything is not permanent. So better use them in good reason but for your on seek.
