forced to buy lunch at school?
Q:Is my school aloud to tell me to put my cards away even if not gambling and making accusing me of lieing and get me in trouble if i dont get there lunch. In advance im sorry for grammer and spelling mistakes I am in middle school and i was doing magic today at lunch. An administrator came up to me and told me to put the cards away. That’s understandable to put the cards away. But she also told me to go and buy my lunch. I said, "Well i wait for the lines to go down then i get my lunch. She called me a lier and i went and got my lunch.

No schools can’t tell you to do that
unless your actually gambling, they can’t tell you to put ur cards away, since it is lunch break
They can’t force you to buy lunch either, I did what you did, waiting for the lines to die down.
seems like your administrators a strict one that thinks they know everytihng, If the administrator gets out of hand, you can tell her superiors and get some actions taken against her, of course you might need the help of friends, parents, or other school faculty
you dont have to buy lunch. but the cards part that makes sense they r not allowed
some administrators think they have to much authority… if there is no rules which state about lunch cue ect then you shouldn’t of listened and carried on doing your own business
I wondered the same thing back when I was in school cause if I didn’t either bring a lunch or buy it there they would make me "borrow money" then get the lunch, even on minimum days… I told my dad, who then contacted the school and found out it was indeed a requirement to eat lunch on school grounds unless I had either parents or doctors written note not to eat on campus. It’s lame I know, but the best way to know for sure is go through the booklet most schools give out at the beginning of the year, that should say for sure if you have to or not.
Always choose your battles. I know that it’s very hard, when you have a fascinating hobby and a little extra time, to not make the most of it. And there are always those people who, when they have a tiny bit of power, but are too intimidated to use it against real troublemakers, select someone else to vent their inadequacies upon. What I’m telling you is not to do something that will give them the opportunity.
Many schools are trying to crack down on students who are gambling. There’s probably something about it in the school handbook. Despite the fact that you were simply practicing your skill at magic, they only saw the cards. See this for what it is, enforcing rules (fair or not) and please don’t set yourself up. It isn’t worth it. You will be labeled a "troublemaker" and then administrative staff will look for things that don’t exist to make your life miserable. Outsmart them. Buy your lunch. Practice outside of school. If your school has a talent show at some point, perform your magic tricks & knock their socks off. Be gracious when they ask for your autograph.
That’s not fair! People like that like to boss you around, it might be better to do what they say rather then get into trouble, and then play cards in the toilets or something where they cant see you!
