start -> run -> type "msconfig"
click the "startup" tab
start unchecking boxes that you know are safe. If you don’t know if it’s safe to uncheck, just do a google search.

Important: These are programs that running on startup. Unchecking most of these will no ill effect on your computer. Unchecking them only prevents them running on start up. You can start them up on your own at your leisure.

Well first off, Hard Drive space is the major player in the slowness of your computer. It could be slowing down a bit because of the hard drive but not a lot.

My old computer is in your same condition, Windows XP home, old, low HD space.

What could be happening is the web and the programs that you are using are getting more high-tech then your computer can handle. You could try getting more memory (RAM).

You could also have a lot of spyware and viruses. You can do what I did. I used spybot Search and Destroy and it made it run faster.

I assume your internet speed isn’t the culprit for slow browsing.

Anyhow, hope you can get it running fast again.
