i have lost my rain bow lorrikeet he flew away. What would be some of the ways to get her back.?
THis morning I took my 4 year old rainbow lorrikeet called CHirpie out of her night cage to put her in her day cage. I usually cut her feathers but she is very tame and says Hello CHirpie. Its mating season here on the mornington peninsula melbourne Australia and I saw her fly into a tree with other rain bow lorikeets. Will she come back, what are some of the tings I can do for Chirpie? I hand raised her since she was a baby 4 years ago. What should I do
thanks
I saved CHirpie when shirpie was kicked out of her nest and the ants were crawling up her legs. Shw was wet and helpless. I raised her and then after I had her 12 months she nearly died again by putting her head in her toy and I just came through the door and saved her. I love Chirpie and Chirpie loved us. She flew with a colony all I wnat to know is will they accept her and not kill her. THere are some people who are very attached to their birds.
thanks DC i am so distraught i dont know what to do. i spoke with peninsula bird world on the mornington peninsula and they said they free fly their tame birds and they come back. i am so shocked i usualy trim some feathers but she use to hate it so i stopped 12 months ago she goes on holidays with us. this bird is tame and speaks and dances you guys dont understand she could be killed she does not know anything about being free.
I am in the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne Australia and we have a lot of lorikeets here so yes she belongs in this area.

PLACE HER CAGE IN THE TREE SHE FLEW INTO IF IT’S ON YOUR PLACE AND SHE MIGHT RETURN TO THE CAGE WITH HER MATE TO RAISE THE YOUNG , AND KEEP PLENTY OF FOOD OUT AS SHE IS NOT USE TO HUNTING FOR HER OWN . IF SHE RETURNS TO THE CAGE ——WELL AFTER DARK SLIP UP TO THE CAGE AND LOCK HER IN AND HELP HER RAISE THE YOUNG . BEST OF LUCK ON GETTING HER BACK . ——–AS FOR THE MORAN WHO IS GLAD SHE IS FREE –THIS IS A HAND RAISED BIRD THAT DON’T KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT ON HER OWN .
say good bye.
I dont think she will come back, YOu may just have to accept it. I am sorry.
Put your case outside with her favorite food in it with the door open.
you could leave her cage out, opened of course
and she might come back inside. (sry i kind of said exactly what the person above me said, but its a good idea)
or place a bird feeder and maybe she’ll bring some friends along too
maybe you should be happy for her that she’ll be able to be free in the wild
im against captive birds, but put lots of bright plants/ flowers and her treats out side. maybe ever her cage.
honestly i hope she doesent come back so she can fly wild and free! her poor feathers your clipping!
birds were ment to fly and bbee w/ others. not coupped up in a cage. no wonder she wanted to escape
that has happened to me before!here are some tips to get her back:
1:Whats your Lorrikeets favorite food ?Lay some out in your backyard,Terri,or bokeny.( mamby it’ll smell its favorite food).
2:If you had any picters of your bird print them out Saying missing bird if you have found this bird please call then you put down your number.
3:call the police to search for the missing bird they might help find it.
I really hope you find your bird.Sailor moon’s in and now out!
i agree with banana… and all the others she is meant to be free and once she finds a mate she probably wont come back
IM SORRY BUT HE SHOULD BE DEAD BY NOW. THOSE KINDS OF BIRDS JUST DONT BELONG IN THIS REGION, SO OTHER BIRDS WILL ATTACK IT AND KILL IT, FOR BEING IN THEIR TERROTORY.
My bird was lost outside for 3 days:thie is what I did to get him back.I put up posters all over the neighborhood, put his cage outside with his favorite toys and some food. The cage should have a sign on it"Lost Bird". The neighbors saw it and when the bird came to their house(because he was hungry)they saw the cage and brought him back home. You can also go to 911 parrotalert.com and they will help you out.
IF SHE COMES BACK SHE WANTED TO IF NOT SHE IS FREE OR POSSIBLY DEAD BUT DON’T GIVE UP ON HER i HAD A BIRD OF MINE SWOOP OUT THE DOOR ONE DAY HE WAS GONE FOR 3 DAYS AND CAME BACK AFTER 2 RAIN STORMS AND No FEED READY SO maybe YOURS WILL TO this BIRD IS USE TO HAVING FOOD ALL THE TIME SHE WILL GET HUNGRY AND TRY TO GET BACK TO HER FOOD SUPPLY SINCE SHE NEVER HAD TO GET HERSELF.
We just found a rainbow lorrikeet on the Morn Pen. Where did you lose your bird from?
I lost my rainbow lorikeet here on the Gold Coast she got out and flew high into the neighbors tree she talked and whistled but the call of the wild was too strong she wanted to breed and other rainbows are around here are in their hundreds rainbow lorikeets are very accepting of other rainbows they sit and listen to each all the time she would have been accepted into the flock quite easily I was so confident she would be ok so I let her aviary mate go as well she is a rainbow lorikeet too and I believe they both are flying free around here and my neighbor feeds hundreds of them every day I am sure COLLEEN AND BARBARA are with them and loving their lives as I found them on the ground only two days old hand raised them they I had the pleasure of there company for 5 years and will never forget them I will always love them wish they were here but I know they were born free
