Vista stuck on configuring updates!!! help!!!!! :(?
my vista OS has been stuck on Configuring update 3 of 3 0% complete please do not turn off ur computer message.. no matter what i do its not restarting…y is vista such a disgusting OS? i lukd up an old qstn on the same topic here n am trying to restore..dnt kno if itl work…hw do i switch off the automatic updates option? also, my laptop smhow switches on by itself at 3 am every night!!!this is how it did system update by itself n got stuck i guess…i dnt know if its magic or what!! hw do i make this stop?

to switch off automatic updates (which is a good idea) open Windows Update and change settings to "check for updates but let me choose whether…"
As for turning on by itself…is it really off or are you using hibernation? If your using hibernation, windows is checking for updates at 3 am and turning itself back on. 3 am is the default time setting for windows to check for updates. I suggest disabling hibernation and using "sleep" instead.
