If it ended on a positive note, like we broke up and remained friends, then keeping up communications would be okay and there maybe hope down the road the relationship may rekindle if they don't rush back into a relationship. However, if it ended on a bad note you should give her some space. Depending on how badly the break up can determine how long to wait. If it was severe, like how my ex dumped me. Then you might want to just move on. If it was a mild break up you can send her an email appologizing for what had happened and wish her the best. Then let her respond back to you.
