My best friend needs my help dealing with a break up he initiated with his ex girl friend. He knows he does not want to get back with her. He has been interested in me for years now and I finally showed him my feelings back. He is now confused and I don’t want to get hurt. What is the best way to be there for him but to not allow my self to get hurt and why would he be confused now when he knows he doesn’t want to get back with his ex?
How long do you allow from the date of a "break-up" to recover from that relationship from pursuing another "something" (i.e. rebound or potential bf/gf) ????

How come a divorce is automatically so much worse then just a break up?
Unmarried people can have children together, which means paying child support, unmarried people can buy things jointly and have ownership disputes.
So tell me, do an expensive ring and a magic piece of paper (marriage certificate) really make a relationship all that much more significant? So much so that people have baggage over a divorce for the rest of their lives? I mean people break up after living together for years and they cope just fine. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. Someone explain.
I was in 4 year long distance relationship till lately. I came to discover recently that my partner was cheating on me for the last 7 to 8 months. Knowing the fact i broke off with her, i mean even in that 4 year period i was staying with her for 6 months in the same city rest of that period i made it a point to meet her every six months or so and use to specially travel giving excuses to my company. The tragedy is that we were suppose to get married in 6 months. 6 months bac i had warned her not to meet a particular guy and turns out she was cheating on me wid him only, how it has hit my soul i cant tell you. I mean all nonsense games being played behind my back now the problem is even when i have broken up which was very bad there is so much anger, frustration, regret and the whole day of images of her getting physical with another guy it just kills me. Now i am thinking that i shud go n tell her parents everything coz they shud also no wat happened exactly as to why we parted ways..
My boyfriend of 1 year and 3 months broke up with me because he said, ” I think I’m going to cheat on you” via text message.
I am very angry and we have school tomorrow and I don’t know how I’m going to make it through the day. We have mostly all of our classes together with assigned seats and I sit next to him in all classes.
What should I do? O, the teachers are not going to change seating arrangements and schedule switch is not an option.

I feel terrible. I wasn’t expecting this. She just broke up with me, and after 2 hours of talking to me, the only reason she gave was that I acted too shy around her friends. Wow. And now I can’t sleep.

Problem is, he still won’t talk to me, and I’m not sure why? I’m guessing its because I hurt him so badly when I wouldn’t come back to him. He feels like I chose someone else over him. I have e-mailed him and texted him, with no response. I’m not sure how to get through to him. I know that he still loves me. What should I do? BTW, I’m not some kid in middle school. This was a REAL relationship.

Okay me and my ex where together for about a year and a half. Everything was great until my ex came into the picture. He came in telling me that he still had feelings for me and he wanted to try things out again. I turned him down and told him I was in love with my boyfriend and we could be friends. But he wanted to be more than that. He kept pushing up on me so I told my boyfriend and they talked. My boyfriend asked my ex to leave me alone and asked me to not talk to him. =( I went behind his back and kept talking to him and some old feelings came back. I decided to give him a chance and ended things with my boyfriend telling him that it was because of family problems. He was crushed. Then when it came back to me and my ex he played me and two other chicks and now we don’t even talk. I then realized that I still did love my boyfriend so my best friend who was cool with him talked to him and he said that he was gonna hurt me as bad as I hurted him and that he really did love me. After finding that out I felt like such a jerk. My ex boyfriend and I haven’t talked since Halloween of 09 now its Feb and Im making a trip to NY to see my aunt and that’s where I first met him. Its gonna be the first time I see him since the break up and I still love him and want him back. I have his new number and Im not sure if I should try to talk to him before I go up there or wait til Im up there. In the back of my mind there is always a chance of rejection and if I talk to him now and that happens it will be so awkwared. But then what if he still feels the same way I do.

Just curious about how does a Virgo male/female cope with a break up? This friend of mine just told me that he {again} break up with his girlfriend but he said this time it time it is definitely. They did get back and break up many times now i think he won’t take her back or otherwise.
I was dating this remarkably perfect boy for 17 months almost. I broke up with him because I thought I was falling out of love with him. I felt extremly uncomfortable being around him, talking to him, and him touching me. I realized what a big mistake I made though after the break up and desperately wanted him back as my boyfriend. He’s finally gotten back into contact with me. We weren’t talking for 5 months and he’s finally come around again because I was feeling extremly depressed and I missed him so much.
I’m starting to feel the same way I did before the break up. I don’t want to feel uncomfortable but I do. I honestly want to love him again. My son and his girlfriend of almost 2 years recently broke up and he’s having some days when he is ok and some when he is really sad. It’s really hard to see your child with a broken heart.
