tax man made out taxes in 2003 got us 2,300 dollars back in taxes now IRS is saying we owe back tax plus interest for that same year of 1900 dollars. can we go back on tax man as we paid him to do them right
My husband and I have been separated since October 2008 but we are not yet divorced. I filed married but filing separately.
The IRS kept my whole refund because of my husband’s back taxes.
The IRS lady told me (probably after getting upset with me) that they can do anything they want because they are the IRS.
If someone knows if I have recourse, please respond. I need this money to save my house.

I finally got back together with my boyfriend after 3 month long break
he had let his ex wife and ex gf get in the way
they both are hysterical demanding women but older than him and rich and powerful
he got mad at me when i was upset over him being late or canceling dates because of reasons ot do with them.
he was very hurt when i asked for a break.
since then he did a lot to be my friends and we dated again (no sex)
i know that tomorrow he is moving into a hous ein the same town as his ex . he said its to be closer to his son (but he has his son 50-60 % of th etime already)
he sold the house that he currently lived in and gave 50% to his ex wife as ordered by the court.
he also added her onto facebook
no problem but then i noticed he blocked me from seeing or posting on his wall (i can still see links/status updates)
and on top of that deleted my photo comments about his son and also my older comments on his status.
i confronted him and he said its to avoid drama.
finally i noticed he is developing a webpage for his ex sister in law who is a popular interior designer.
he and i had a very nice normal conversation last friday night
i had one bad piece of news to tell him though.
one of my roommates who suddenly left my house had been getting tons of mail from IRS ….
finally an open piece of mail came to me weeks ago.
turns out she hasn’t paid a small maount of taxes in 1993 and 2003 and theyve been adding in penalties and looking for her ever since.
well oddly 1 week ago the irs also also contacted me. i didnt work in 2007 (taking care of dying parent and renovating m house)
and i was kind of freaked out.
so i tol dmy boyfriend about it.
he said to calm down and that it isnt abig deal and that heck he once had a lien on his house from IRS for 90000 ( !!!)
so we talked some more and he said for me to not stress and that he had just seen the new movie julie and julia with his son.
he said i should cook for him again soon sinc eim so good at it.
and thats IT !
i called him and texted him sunday and nothing
The last i ever heard from him was nearly 7 days ago.
is he fine ?
yes he has updated his twitter all week
he is on facebook and aim as i type this question.
he updated his facebook to say he is proud th emovies he is producing are getting a lot of attention.
and speaking of twitter i uploaded ne pics of myself yesterday to my facebook.
on his twitter he made fun of people who take photos of themselves and called them vain friendless loosers (losers- spelling isnt his strong suit)
he is suddenly bitter and hateful of me ?
should i just delete him off everything and never speak to him again ?

My husband left me in August 2001/ In January 2002 he suggested tha he file our taxes since he knew I had no money. I agreed especially since it was going to be "seperate" filing. In ay case, a few monts later I got acheck for HIM at MY address! I called and he ran right over to get i! Then he said" Hmm thats weird tha they sent it here." I suggested that I call the accountant about i and he said it was probably the mistake of IRS A week or so later the stae check came fpr him as well. THEN he called to say " Hey YOUR checks came to MY post office box! I will cash them and give you the money when I se you!" I agreed. About a week later he stopped by my ome to give me an envelope of money along with some bills. Turns out he cashed my checks ( in his account of course) then sued the money to pay in full al utility bills and cable bills that had both our names on or just his for my home. After paying the bills he got them placed solely in my name staing hta he could no longer afford to support TWO households. He left and I opened the envelope to find less than 0 !! That , with the bills meant that both my stae and federal only came to about 0! OK>…what did I know ( still was pissed about him deciding how to spend my money)
That september my oldest was enrolling in college I needed copies of my tax return to file for federal aid, etc Afte asking for a few monts my husband dropped off a file and left quickly! I opened it to find that the state return was about 00 and the federal return was almost 00 !! I sat and cried! I called him to say I would press charges nd he begged me to let him repay me. He apologized and said he would make restitution.
It is now almost 7 years and each time I think about pressing charges i feel guilty that he might go to prison, lose his teaching job, etc.
But for the past several years I have been destitute. I haven’t even worked fulltime since 2005!
Can I force him to repay?
I never signed the checks; and he used HIS address and cashe dthem thru an account that was solely in is name.
Now he tells me that since we wer still legaly married at the time he was entiled to cashing and does not have to repay
Any help? Thought? Ideas on placs to go with this??

A friend, who is older, had been living under low income and not having to pay federal income taxes. In 2007, she took a large disbursement from an annuity and had to pay high taxes on it. Following this, the IRS wanted her to pay estimated tax payments throughout 2008. She did. However, she took no distributions and owes no taxes for 2008….so how does she get back the money she paid in estimated payments throughout 2008.
