I have a linksys box that my phone line connects to which allows me to make overseas calls unlimited (I guess it’s like a magic jack). It has worked fine but all of a sudden the linksys box that once showed 3 buttons lit up (power, internet, phone 1), now only has 2 lines lit (power, internet). My phone line is completely dead. It was working just fine for the past 2 months now all of a sudden this. When I call that number it’s a busy signal. When people from overseas call me they say they’re going direclty to voice mail. HEEEEEEEELLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!
I have a Magic Jack, and I hate unnecessary shortcuts/icons on my desktop, but every time I restart my computer, MJ recreates the friggin shortcut that I have deleted 20+ times now! I’ve searched their website for an answer, but apparently the average MJ user is too caught up in Bedazzled to realize that this stupid thing is loading up their desktop with shortcuts. What’s the point? You can’t shut the stupid program down, so why do you need a shortcut to run it? Anyone know if there’s a secret switch or way to root this stupid dongle and make it work proper? Emailing the creator of MJ at dan@magicjack.com has done me no good.

I bought a Magic Jack, and It works well, except that their program isn’t very user friendly. It pops up with the UI every time I make or receive a phone call, and there are no settings to change that. I found a good way around that, which is to completely uninstall Magic Jack from my main user profile. Then create a separate user account specifically for Magic Jack, and install it on that account. That fixes the issue of all the pop-ups all the time. Now the only problem is that every time I restart my computer I have to log into the separate user account and wait for magic jack to startup, then switch users to my main user account and wait for it to load and startup as well.
My question, is there anyway to make a program that is installed on one user account startup and run, without actually logging into that user account? If so, how?

I just got done with my 30 day trial of magic jack. I signed up and was successfully linked. (So it said.) When I went back to make a call, it would not work. Did I just get fooled?
When I tried to get ahold of a live person it led me to a "cannot find the site" page. Does anyone out there know how to get ahold of a live person to help me?
Thanks in advance

I have tried the chat link, telephone numbers found on the web. I cannot get a live person. The answers they give on the site will not get the thing working again. I requested my password to get in members area to no avail. Any suggetions? Sure we could jam there avenues of getting new customers and not purchase anything, discourage new customers by telling the truth, but I’d rather they stand behind the product. Has anyone been able to take advantage of the second year deal? Has anyone else found that they could contact the company fine until the trial period was over? The chat link just goes in circles. Also, does anyone know how to get the thing up after a reformat. MJ suggested (in FAQs) a reformat and download, that did not work. You get what you pay for is to be expected. So I tolerated sometimes on sometimes off, crossing with my other voip etc… But they advertise in a way that makes you believe it will work for at least 1 year. Anyone else find that not to be so?
Ok. After searching the net forever I finally found 2 links that fixed the problem of the thing not "booting up." No help from MJ in that area. However, now when the softphone comes up it says my MJ is already activated and asks for my email or phone # and password. When I request password info from MJ website, I’m told info is sent to my email addy. Over and over again. Days now and still no response. So I must say, the device itself is still usable. The customer service is really the problem for me. They have a refer a friend button on there site. Did you use that C.S ?
By the way thanks Roger for trying to help me solve my problem. I did try makinga MJ logon account, but that was b4 the links helped me get it working. Seems if I was sent my password info (I’ve never had to login at MJ) I’d be OK. I actually used it as a second phone for the kids. I use Vonage for myself.
