So, I’ve chosen my magic system. I decided to make my characters have at least one or two special powers and can learn and control other abilities. What type of magical abilities would fall under:

1. Mental
2. Physical
3. Illusion
4. Outer-World Magic (i.e. Time, Gravity)
5. Healing
6. Defensive

ok so i have to write an essay on: are todays famous people good role models for young people

so this is wat i have can anyone help me edit it and use proper grammer

Today’s famous people are not a good role model for young people because there doing inappropriate things like plastic surgery, bad relationship, and are on too many bad diets. Young people should look up to people like Raven Simon, Oprah Winfrey, and Barrack Obama.

On of the most terrible thing that celebrities do now days is plastic surgery. People like Ashley Simpson, Mickey Rourke, Michael Jackson, Pamela Anderson, and Jessica Simpson have done much plastic surgery and now they look unappealing. Plastic surgery make people look fake, unnatural and make them lose there respect. Plastic surgery has some side effects like disfigurement, illness, infection, and birth defect. This is why it’s not good to do them. Many famous people are obsessed with plastic surgery so they are considered as a bad role model.

Bad relationship is another big thing today. Famous people like to have boy/girl friends but they are not too smart about there decisions. They often make mistake and choose people who are rich and good looking. Most famous people are abusive, sexual, and are not honest. Some example of bad relationship would be Pamela Anderson /Tommy Lee, Charlie Sheen/Denise Richards, and Rihanna /Chris brown.
Bad diets are another big thing today with famous people. Diets like Jenny Craig, Herbal Magic system, my fit, and fit for life often has side effect like gaining weight, gas, throwing up, and stomach ache. It is better not to take these diets. To maintain a healthy fit body its better to eat healthy and exercise. Most celebrities often starve them self and end up with a bad illness.
Young people should look up to teachers and family members as their role models. So as you can see famous people are not a good role model for young people because they do plastic surgery, have bad relationship, and are on too many bad diets

–Sorry in advance for the length. As I sad, be a real (wo)man and read it all!! I really need help on this :/

Have you ever been trying to write a book and then gotten depressed because someone has said its similar to something else?

I can promise that I havent read Harry Potter, and its also really depressing that my friend has compared my story to it because HP is so popular. I don’t want to be compared when I’m published, because I don’t want my book scrutinized.

There are these similarities, supposedly:
1. My story has a magic school
2. My magicians use wands
3. My story involves immortality and souls

It’s disheartening and I don’t want to lose my motivation to write, because I’ve spent years creating my fantasy world and I have weaved up the plot, characters and everything COMPLETELY myself

Things in my defense are:
1. My story is set in the 16-17th century, and the school is simply like a regular magic school in a fantasy book, like plenty of other books, not some hidden place in our day and age. The school is also not so important to the plot (important enough to be necessary but not directly relevant to my main story — only two chapters are set there)

2. I have an innovative magic system that I think is quite fresh, and wands are necessary, so I can’t change them, and there’s no shouting out of words or anything (I dont want to reveal this)

3. Immortality and Souls are also crucial to the story, and are the driving force of some the antagonists. I did not know HP had immortality in it, but I’m sure Rowling isnt the first person to use either of these. I’ve thought up ways for my characters to be immortal

Could you please tell me what you think about these things? Soften it if you have to lol.

Also, in my story, when a body/vessel is damaged enough their soul will escape. This is ‘death’. One of the antagonists is a man with his soul stapled to his body with magic. His body heals near-instantly, and so if he’s ‘killed’ he won’t ‘die’ because his soul remains til his body is functioning again — making him immortal (as he just gets back up). That’s not like Voldemort, is it?

He’s not the only immortal, but the only one that might be similar.
Thanks in advance folks (y)

now that they acquired VC, they most likely wont be able to re-sign Turkoglu. They also lost a young stud in Courtney lee and Rafer Alston.

Last year, their success was based on ball movement. VC does not fit that playing style. he needs to dominate the ball to be successful. Courtney Lee and Turkoglu fit perfectly in the Magic’s system. Neither of them need to dominate the ball to be effective.

This trade made the Magic much weaker in my opinion. Their already thin bench is now even thinner.

wtf were they thinking?
@ noe23: wow you are a dumb@ss… they didn’t need someone to "take over in crunch time" Turkoglu is one of the best clutch players in the NBA and he can create his own shot!

Have any ideas on how to make a christian magic system based on biblical spiritual "miracles" or spiritual gifts that resemble magic. I have a christian hero who is learning how to use "spirit power" which is basically good magic that comes from the "great one" and the bad people use this power that comes from the "evil one" (since real "powers" in this world come from God or the Devil). Give me a good Biblical list that can be made to look like a magic system that must be mastered by faith (that produces good "works") and an evil magic system that uses fear to produce evil works.
