The reason I am posting this question in the Ramadan forum is because I think I can get more realistic advice from other Muslims, preferably those who are familiar with Lebanese culture.
To make a long story short, I was in a Mut3a with my ex for nearly 5 years. We are both Lebanese, and I began to get fed up because we were not married or even engaged after all that time. There were things that I could’ve done to better the relationship but I was stubborn and chose not to do so. We broke up in November 2008. I thought that it was time for me to get married, so I became engaged to another man in April. (We did not get married Islamically, we only did an engagement party with family.) All during this time I could not stop thinking of my ex, but I went on with the engagement. I ended my engagement 2 months ago because I cannot deny the love I still have for my ex. He is my 7ob, my hayati, my one true love.
Here is the bad part. His family found out about my engagement and he says that there is almost no way that his parents would allow us to marry because I went ahead and got engaged to another man. Wallahi I swear on the Quran that I realize I made a huge mistake and I need to fix it. I made istikhara and it tells me to keep pursuing this. My ex has always been good to me, even when I didn’t deserve it. I hurt him so much by getting engaged so soon- he had even bought an engagement ring for me before he knew that I was planning on getting engaged. However, I was talking to my now ex-fiance at the time so I turned him away. I need any advice on how to get back into his family and to show them how much I love and care for their son! Please help!
I don’t need any haters saying that Mut3a is haram- if you are not Shia and you want to knock Mut3a then please do not answer! Also… for those who may not know, Mut3a is not necessarily used for sex- it is a also way for Muslims to get to know one another and be able to spend time with one another.
I should also add that before all this happened, his parents and siblings treated me as part of the family. They were always telling him that he will not find anyone better than me. But now they have began looking for a girl for my ex to get engaged to because they feel he needs to get married since he is their only child that is not married. I don’t know if his family knows that I am not engaged anymore as I haven’t talked to them.

in america the statistics i saw on oprah was that almost 86% of men have cheated on their wives that is a way too high statistic. im a muslim woman in america but i dont wear the hijab,god willing 1 day i will get to that level of piety,im 21 and in the working place i cant even count of the amount of married non-muslim men try to get some action from my friends and i,they tend to like the younger ladies.its sick to se how many non-muslim men compared to muslim men it is a hge diff.most men cheat as much as men on here say they dont majority of them are lying they do and there wives deny the fact.
in america there are 7.8 million more woman then men.that means approx 8 million woman in america will never get married.and lets face it as woman we also need some loving and to do it out of marriage in most religion is very sinful.thats how today you get so much adultery and sex before marriage that leads to aids and many diff diseases,abortion.thats y many christian woman become prostetutes,many of them start getting pregnant out of marriage and then they need to support those kids.many woman come from poor backgrounds as you know you get the very rich and the very poor is much more in number.then men statistics of gay to lesbian is 26% to 13% that is double,then you take the amount of men sent to wars and die,and the amount of men in prison is much more to woman,this increases the satistics of many woman never to get married even more, but the quran makes very clear you may take upto four BUT IF YOU CANT DO JUSTICE BETWEEN THEM YOU TAKE ONLY 1!
AND LETS BE HONEST THE GAYS IN ISLAM COMPARED TO CHRISTIANITY WILL NEVER EVER BE EQUIVALENT,EVEN MOST CHRISTIANS PRIESTS ARE GAY ITS TOO FAR MORE THEN ISLAM WILL EVER BE.

morphic,im a woman and i think this law if fair because many woman will not get married.christianity is not fair because if god can create so many woman to men and tell you to only take 1 then you saying god doesnt care about all those other extra woman?????

I took this verse from Quran translated by yusuf ali in english but he added some words in parethesis but my quran in spanish doesn’t have those parethensis and in a book in spanish by dr sharif says it’s there 4 ways of saving marriage is talking with both families,or going with a judge or talking each other and the last source is beating the wife but ligthly? how is that?

I heard some opinions is not Ok..and others say it’s Ok because the Quran said.. muslim men can take people of the book.. as far as I know that..
catholics are the first christians.. I believe Muhammad knew the orthodoxs and other christians who profess the catholic creed.. not the protestantism
