the same 22 yr. old lady that smacked me later told me she knew it would work because it had before. i asked her if she had ever smacked anyone who knew karate. she replied she didn’t know. i have a friend who has taken it for a year, but brags a lot about it. i asked him if any girl could smack him and he said no way. i told her and she said well let’s see. she was too fast for me, i can’t block her hand, she smacked me fast. a girlfriend of hers saw her do it to me and thinks she’ll nail my friend. i have to admit, i didn’t think she’d get me, but she did easily. my friend didn’t know which hand she’d use, but i did because she gave me a big red mark on my left cheek. so she just walks up to him and smiles. he kind of looked confused but then she asked him a question and while he was responding i finally saw how she got me. while he was responding her right hand reeled back, FAST! does karate work on you ladies when you try to smack us or did my friend get slapped on the same spot?
FOOTPRINTS IN CEMENT
I.
Some say that love is
a two way street,
two to tango,
chaste-white sheets,
stay-in-one-place-
fidelity,
his and hers bathrobes,
names carved on a tree,
honeymoons and valentines
and "we always agree",
here-at-eight, dinner out,
romantic walks by the sea.
II.
"Realistically, love is sacrifice,
commitment, compromise,
accepting flaws, second chances,
third tries,
sharing the washing up,
taking it in turns to hush the baby
when it cries,
all this nonsense about romance
and these garish paper hearts
are media propaganda
and Hollywood lies."
III.
Half of all marriages
end in divorce,
it looks like love
is weak, people never stay.
Singleness is the logical
recourse,
we keep away.
IV.
(I am not one to argue,
so I whispered my dissent;
love to me always just felt the same as
leaving footprints in cement)
Candid_carnage – thanks for the star
to clarify – I don’t really think so low of love! I was voicing alternative opinions, mine is the last (IV)

I keep my cat indoors most of the time but take her for walks using a harness. This morning my father in law opened the front door and without knowing she got out. I’m afraid she will get lost or ran over. she’s a slow learner and sometimes i think she’s mentally disabled.
We live in apartments so there’s a lot of doors to choose from. Will she be able to find her way back and know what door to scratch on?

I adopted a dog from the SPCA and she is so sweet to me and the family. The only behavioral problem she has is she barks at older men. How can I break this behavior? I have had the neighbor take her on walks, giving her treats, etc., but she will not quit barking at him. What can I do? The neighbor has had enough of it and really wants to get along with the dog.

A very dear person. 72 yearsof age. He’s physically fit, atleast that’s what the doctor says. He doesn’t walk, watch TV, read or practically do anything except eating. He’s got a fear too deep seated that something will happen to him if he goes out of the house. His body is losing strength and he pants even when he walks a step. I’ve seen people of his age leading a normal life. I’m worried, what to do?
