Why are women not expected to leave the seat up for men?

We’re expected to put it down for you. Why don’t you be kind and considerate and put it up for us?

The solution is an institutional,seat-less toilet, no more arguments.http://www.acorneng.com/penal.htm
3 functions can occur on a down toilet seat, only 1 can occur on an up toilet seat
(ladies can #1 and #2 and men can #2)
so it’s really a matter of simple math.
true… I think it’s only fair.
My hubby does this habitually. I am so glad I don’t have to complain about this. It’s not a gender thing it is a "sanitary" thing. Seriously, it is not that hard to do now is it?
When my son gose to the bathroom I tell him put that seat down we dont stand up to go why should we leave it up 4 them
Men wont fall in the toilet if the seat is left down where women will fall in if the seat is left up. Imagine your genitalia in that nasty water.
I have a small bladder. I go a lot, so no deal
Well, it IS my house.
Not quite sure how its "sanitary" but anyway….
I think it stems from the fact that women don’t want to touch the seat in general. Which means seeing how they have to sit for both 1 & 2 they want it down, and putting it up would only defeat the purpose.
its that or there really lazy, but i can’t believe that putting down a toilet seat would cause such a social controversy over effort.
I don’t expect my man to put it down for me and he doesn’t expect me to put it up for him. We both have arms and hands I think we are capable of using them.
I don’t understand why some people make such a big deal about a toilet seat. You wash your hands afterwards anyway.
Women being kind and considerate to men is an oxymoron.
Never gunna happen.
I think the toilet seat and lid should be down at all times when not in use. It is disgusting when men and women forget to put the lid down.
This is really a non issue. It has to do with personnel hygiene and appearance.
The real issue is when some radicals try and outlaw urinals and force men to sit to urinate in an outright attempt to emasculate males.
Yeah I know it seems kind of "half baked" or tin foil hat type thing but stuff like this is going on in some places in Europe.
The idea of hate movement + Europe should be enough to scare anyone. Last time Europe fell sway to a hate ideology… The global cost and human cost was severe to say the least.
Women are not capable of doing a task that even a 6 year old male is capable of.
It’s time for everyone, men and women alike to learn to put down the seat and also to PUT DOWN THE DAMN LID. It’s not fun fishing something out of the toilet you just knocked in because the lid was open and you accidentally knocked it in. Besides, we have equality here because now both men and women have to lift something.
It is pretty hypocritical for them to get upset because we don’t cater to them though if they don’t do it in return. I still think it’s ridiculous either way. If this is the worst thing you people can complain about you have some pretty good lives.
Latanian, do you have eyes? Look before you sit down. That’s common sense. Or at least I thought it was. I see a lot of women complaining about falling in. I’m beginning to think y’all really don’t have eyes. Or hands for lowering the seat if it happens to be up for that matter.
Thank you RoVale. We are in this together to convert all to become put-seat-downers.
I concur.
We never fight over the toilet seat here. We’re adults. We check to make sure it’s where we need it when we have to use the toilet. It ain’t hard. Even my little kids have that one nailed down. I don’t see the point of fussing.
No they are not
The toilet seat should be put down, along with the lid if there is one. Leaving the toilet seat up looks ugly and it encourages pets to drink out of them. Since many people use those blue toilet bowl cleaner tablets, leaving the toilet seat up could poison your pets.
Well, in my case I pay the bills so I get to dictate how the toilet seat stays. And for other women, there’s nothing as unpleasant as falling into the toilet at 3am. Men don’t have this issue if they have to raise the toilet seat.
Seats are meant to be down. Why fight it?
It’s like lids on jam jars – annoying, but there’s a purpose behind it.
Fereshte made a great point I haven’t seen before, my place, my toilet, my rules. I can add to that, whoever takes on the duty of regularly cleaning the toilet gets to decide the default toilet seat position.
Except: Questionable gas station gender neutral bathrooms, leave the lid up in there, some people are too lazy to even lift the seat to pee. Gross.
It’s not the putting down, it’s the leaving down while you go & a wet seat that’s most annoying.
Having a coupla Huskies who get thirsty, it’s just become habit to put the top down after every use.
I’m a 40- something male who lives alone.
The seat AND lid are always down when not in use.
When I have female guest, I’m always aware of whether they used the loo or not. They ALWAYS leave the lid up.
Apparently , they think it’s just a backrest
