Why do so many men leave the toilet seat up?

Now, I’m a male and stand to urinate like the rest, but when finished I always put the seat back down. It’s what I was taught when I was young. having to use public restrooms often, I notice that most don’t bother putting it back down. Why is this? It’s very simple to do.

This issue comes up a lot and I have come to the conclusion that people simply don’t possess a great deal of logic or reason. Toilet seats come with lids. The mere existence of the lid indicates that it should be closed when the toilet is not in use. The lid does not close without the seat being down. Therefore, the seat being down, and the lid closed, is the default position. The toilet should be returned to this state after every use, and everyone lifts and returns a part of the toilet.
Conversely: Why do so many women leave the toilet seat down?
think dude. we put it down for women. ur using a PUBLIC restroom for men only. why should every man that comes in have to lift the seat and then lower it? the one taking a dump should be the only one having to mess with it.
it’s a courtesy used if there is a woman who also uses that particular because they sit every time they use it
In our house there are very strict rules about the use of the toilet…when you finish you flush & then you check to make sure it doesn’t need a clean (if it does need a clean then YOU clean it, don’t leave it for ME to do) & then you close the LID (not just the seat).
We have small children & I am always paranoid about uncovered water sources because they are fascinating for kids. The lid has to be closed & then the clip put on so the kids can’t open the lid & throw random stuff in the toilet!
Oh, & if the rules are not followed the culprit loses their toilet privelages…they have to go out into the yard & pee & if they need to poop then they are allowed to use the toilet BUT afterwards they have to give it a FULL CLEAN (with the bleach & the scrubbing brush & gloves).
You use male public restrooms, right? So why bother to put it down? If someone needs the male room in a way that they need the toilet seat down, why can’t they put it down themselves? More people, throughout the day, will need it ‘up’ rather than ‘down’, so you’re actually being incredibly annoying by putting it back down all the time.
i don’t want to touch the seat in public restroom……yuck…..
I know it is incredibly annoying, I don’t understand why they do this, it has to do with manners and to some degree, they are simply uneducated, but if there is one thing that bothers me the most is this exact thing. I wish I could slap them, lol. just kidding
Because it’s easier for them but, in a male restroom, it shouldn’t matter – in the home it does for two reasons. The first is that, aesthetically, a toilet looks neater when the seat is down and the second is that the females in the household shouldn’t have to fumble in the dark to be sure they won’t sit in a bowl of cold water. Shortly after I married, I woke up at 3am and didn’t want to disturb my husband by putting the light on – the reward for my consideration was a cold water shock (in mid-winter Scotland). I went into the kitchen, took out 3-4 packages of frozen peas, and dropped them down the back of my sleeping husband’s T-shirt – he never left the seat up again … definitely not applicable to public restrooms … =).
pure laziness….totally. i dont even bother to lift the lid….i pee…sprinkle the seat and just use the nearest towel and wipe the seat and return the towel to rack…..laziness and nastiness. urine is used to disinfect in many cultures.oh, my parents taught me to wash before and after and raise and lower the seat……individual laziness. sigh!
In a public toilet, which would be male only, I see no reason at all why you should put the seat down.
In a toilet used by both genders, I still think there’s no reason to put the seat down. Men are taught that it’s the polite thing to do but I think it’s kind of ridiculous. Us women leave the seat down after we use it forcing them men to lift it, so why should they not leave it up for us to put down? It seems like a fair trade to me.
Somebody told me that the toilet seat should always sit down and lid should always sit up because it’s aesthetic in this way. I agree with this idea or I think that who uses a toilet has to leave as he/she found (like upper). When a woman urinates, she must sit on the toilet seat, while when a man urinates, he does not need the toilet, so he raises it and when he finishes to urinate, just wash their hands and go, and he doesn’t let down the toilet seat. Is it so hard to let down?

Well, as far as public restrooms guy, why would you want to put it down when the next guy who comes in for a piss only has to lift it again?
The worst thing you can get in public restrooms is when they don’t lift up the seat and someone pisses all over it.
Honestly I don’t know what all the fuss is. We have to lift it to wee and women need to put it down, doesn’t seem all that hard to me.
