What do i do to save my marriage from a husband that has a gambling problem?

He says he has it under control but he will still over draw the checking account. He promises he won’t do it again and he always does. He sits on the computer all the time and is never with his family. Of course he doesn’t see it that way. He somehow always turns it around on me and it is my fault. Online gambling has ruined my life. I just don’t know what to do anymore.

You husband must admit that he is addicted to gambling which a major problem in the marriage. Try to have your husband go to a counselor to get help.

    Take him to the track.

Bet him on the 3rd horse in the 4th race to win.

You will either be rich or be shed of your problem.

    Try this website yourself:

    http://www.gam-anon.org/

This is "Gamblers Anonymous" for the FAMILY of a compulsive gambler. It should start you looking in the right places for help. Also, most states have some sort of gamblers’ help, perhaps in the form of a hotline, from which you can be directed to more local help. Check your phone book.

This is a crummy problem, and a real family-wrecker. You have my sympathy, and my encouragement to do something for yourself and your family. Good luck!

    1. Choose a good time to talk to him (when he is not online gambling). Try to talk to him when he is gambling is bad idea which will result in either some unpleasant argument or push him further into the gambling.

    2. Set up rules. If he has to gamble then set limit of time and amount. Of course you need to have a way to enforce this rule, otherwise it is meaningless.

    3. Involve him more in other activities. (Friends, Family, Short Trips, etc…) Keep him busy.

Bottom line, try to show him the life outside of the gambling is better.

Explain to him how gambling is affecting you and your relationship and ask him to seek help from gamblers anonymous or similar.
