Yes you do get over it but the usually is a healing time. You invested your Heart and soul for 8yrs they don’t just stop cuz of some piece of paper stating your now single. You have memories and affection that keeps going.
It is said that LOVE conquers all but it seems they fail to note it must be on both parties. Love on one side is like a one-handed clap.
Talk to your ex is she still in love with you. Is she poss thinking, "we might get back together". You an open communication about how she feels so that you will know what you need to do.
Tell her what you miss about her and you have an advantage in that you had 8yrs together. So you can say. "you know I really love…………. about you and i miss it."

After you stated your position if she green lights it… remember what you did to get her and go for it. If she red lights it then treat this relationship (couples loves) like a sick friend. Prepare yourself for the lost and let yourself grieve and say your good byes and move on in your healing.

Remember life holds love where you least expected it so be sure your heart is in a position to receive when it shows up.

nature abhors a vacuum. You have a void and until you fill it with someone else it will continue to try to draw her back in. Fill the void.

You need to put yourself out there. Get some counseling and talk to people (close friends, or family members you trust). Obviously your marriage did not work in the beginning, why try and start something back up when it failed the first time. You just have to let it go, even though it is hard to do. Good luck!
