How long does it take for old problems to resurface when getting back together with an ex?

I know it works out sometimes, but usually, the problems you had the first time are forgotten when getting back together, yet resurface after a certain period of time.

That depends.
When you and your ex got back together did you talk about what went wrong in the relationship and try to fix it, or did you just ignore it and hope everything will work out?
In my experience issues in relationships need to be dealt with in a way that helps both of you heal and move on.
This is even true if you and your ex don’t get back together. Otherwise you may very well have the same problems with the next person you date.

it usually depends on how big of an issue the problems were
It depends on how major the problems were. If they were really that bad then they will resurface FAST.
Immediately depending on what the problems are, some things are forgiven but never forgotten if you don’t acknowledge where you went wrong.
